Flip This! Investor proves not everything you see on TV is Real

 

Real Estate Reality Shows are a dime a dozen these days.  We all know there is a certain amount of staging involved.  Whether it's House Hunters recreating the search progress, or other shows pulling in Realtor comments from areas that they don't service, it's all fun in the entertainment world.

More recently, investor related shows have become very popular.  One show, A&E's Flip This House is one that takes you from start to finish on a project and shows you the ins and outs of the whole project.  Although, some "fudging" is allowed in TV, I'm pretty amazed at the lengths that Sam Leccima from Atlanta went to stage this whole show.

Fox 5 did a great job on their story.  Watch the whole thing, "It's TV, man."

These shows are the single worst thing I have come across when it comes to talking with new investors who want to get into flipping. They leave such a wrong impression with the public who then think everything they see on these shows is the way it is. It takes a while to "de-program" these folks.

A downside to the whole epidemic is the "do it yourself-er"- undoing "great" ideas (done incorrectly) from these programs can be costly when it comes to actually selling the house!

WOW!!  That is crazy!  I wonder if this is why the original North Carolina cast branched off and started a new show with a new title.  Probably wanted to get away from this horrible stigma of the name Flip this House.

That is one of the reasons I do not watch too much TV...aside from the fact that it is a BIG time waster......

This is way too bad.  You'd think that A&E would do a bit more invesigating into their own porduction.  This gives us all a black eye.

I had heard a portion of a snippet from Clark Howard about this, and had been wondering about the rest.  Thanks for posting up.  It's good to know that I'm not crazy... ok, at least about the values I see on some of these shows.
