Using Facebook For Business - From a BlitzTime Call W/ Jake Press

Everyone has heard of Facebook by now, but how many of you are using it for business.  Let's get something straight up front,  it's not about being dissengenuious, it's about connecting and networking.  Those who follow me on Twitter or Facebook understand the reason my cheesy slogan is "Real in Real Estate."

I was on a great new service called BlitzTime which lets you do conference calls and speed networking all in one!  It's a great service and a perfect platform for a class on utilizing facebook for business.  I tweeted the key points but here they are in LONG BLOGORIPHIC format!

Maximizing Facebook for Business with Jake Press from Mushy Gushy:

  1. Facebook is not Myspace!  - It's a bit more user friendly, there's not as many risque' ads or smaller kids.  Sure teenagers use it, but so do CEOs.
  2. It's Not about what you do, it's who you are.... And it's not about who you know, but who THEY know.
    HOW TO FIND PEOPLE
    • Groups - It's easy and transparent.
    • Searches in the Keywords - Try searching CEO or Marketing and Business = JACKPOT!
    • Interest - notice your interests are "LINKS"
    • Harvesting Friends From Others - Be careful on this one.
    • DO NOT USE PROPAGATION SOFTWARE - Most users will tune you out eventually and Facebook will get you if continued.
  3. Becoming friends is like opening the door to real friendship or a relationship - reminder don't oversell at first!
  4. Several Executives and CEOs have their PHONE NUMBER on their Facebook Profile!
  5. Excercise the Platinum Rule in Facebook Communications - Communicate the way THEY communicate!
  6. Never underestimate how connected someone is
  7. Bring Value! Don't just comment to comment... spam is easily identified.
  8. Keep it Professional

I have just started really using Facebook.  The thing Ilike most is that my AR blogs go on to Twitter and the Twitter feed goes right on to Facebook.  Whenver anybody views y facebook profile there is farily fresh content on a variety of subjects.

Hi Joshua.  I recently have joined facebook and love it.

I use it for fun.  Fun will lead to business.

Great pointers and thanks for writing,

Ken

Great info. I use FB for marketing and never thought to use my AR blog with the feed going to FB. I'll have to give it a try.

You are right. facebook is an opportunity to kindle relationships where people learn to trust you. Planting seeds about what you do and letting people get to know you is an excellent way to get referral business! Thanks for the reminder.
